Hello everybody.
I feel stupid already and I'm wondering if anyone is actually reading this. Doesn't matter. I decided to give it a go - so here I am. My name is Nika. I'm nothing special, nothing you haven't seen before. I'm that kind of girl that you pass by and don't even notice, especially if I don't wear any make-up. Speaking of, make-up is truly my passion, my biggest hobby. Even if I'm just leaving my house to go to the library, you will see me with - what most people probably consider - too much make-up on my face. But I don't care. It's something that I really enjoy doing. I love experimenting and creating different looks. I find it amazing how it can transform someone completely.
I'm not saying that I'm ugly without make-up or anyone else for that matter. But I will say that I love how using make-up can excentuate beauty and features of your face (or body) that you want to emphasise.
So here's my first post and it's a make-up look I wore today. It can also be a tutorial if you want to re-create it. :)
Daytime Make-Up Look
I decided to include a before-and-after photo, just so you can see the difference. Of course I started off bare-faced. I applied my daily moisturiser by Nivea and moved on to foundation. I don't usually use a primer, although I would advise using it, especially if you have oily skin. My skin is normal, so I don't have any dry patches and luckily I don't get oily so easily.
Then I used my favourite foundation at the moment - Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation in shade Beige. It's a great foundation if you have dry or normal skin, not so great if your skin is oily.
After my foundation I "quickly" did my brows. I always use an eyeshadow to fill them in (Catrice single eyeshadow - medium brown). I like bold and defined brows, it may not be your cup of tea, there's nothing wrong with that. However, I do believe that defined brows make everything look at least 10 times better.
After that I moved on to eye make-up. I used three eyeshadows, all of them are from the Naked 3 palette. First of all I used Nooner in my crease. It's a matte eyeshadow that I used to define my eyes a bit more. I would normally use a light brown eyeshadow, but this time I used pinky-brown shade to spicy it a little bit. :)
To define my eyes even further, I used Blackheart which is a dark violet eyeshadow. I didn't want to use a black matte shadow, because this dark violet eyeshadow really goes well with Nooner. I used a small angled brush really close to the lash line.
With a fluffy brush I gently smudged the line so it wasn't that harsh. I love how my eyes look with a winged line, so I went for a very subtle wing. Nothing too crazy.
I will come back to eyes later. I took a light concealer and highlighted my forehead, the bridge of my nose, the area around my nose and my mouth and lastly my chin. (Catrice Camouflage Creamy Concealer).
Then I used a black eye pencil and applied it to my lower lash line. I smoked it out with a fluffy brush and Nooner eyeshadow. I quickly highlighted my inner corners with a sparkly eyeshadow called Dust. It's a light pink shimmer, but it's not in-your-face kind of shimmer at all. I simply loooooove it. I really brightens up the entire eye area.
Here comes the funniest photo haha. I used a matte bronzer to contour very slightly. I didn't want to contour too much because I still wanted to keep it quite light-weight and wearable. I know I look super weird, but this is how I locate my cheekbones and emphasise them even more.
As I mentioned, I didn't contour that much, but I did bronze up my skin a bit. I used the same bronzer with a larger and fluffier brush on my cheeks, temples and forehead, also a tiny bit across my jawline. Above you can see a comparison - before and after. Bronzer is great for shaping your face and adding warmth.
Mascara time!! Everything looks a million times better after you add mascara. I'm currently using I <3 Extreme mascara by Essence and I'm obsessed. It's probably the best mascara I have ever used. It's even better than my old favourite; MaxFactor False Lash Effect.
Okay, final step. Lips. I couldn't decide between the two, so I included both looks.
Firstly, I used a lipgloss by Avon in shade Sparkling. It's a light shimmery lipgloss but I absolutely love it. It's quite sheer and it gives a nice hint of pink.
For second look I went for a bright red colour. I think it looks very summery and fresh - without a doubt my kind of summer make-up look. :)
We're done! I hope you enjoyed reading this awkward newby post.
Love, Niki. x
